The information below is important to you to ensure a smooth
and enjoyable time with car-hire.com.au.
IMPORTANT: car-hire.com.au has a teaming agreement with Ezy
Rentals in New Zealand. The following Terms and Conditions
cover all rentals through car-hire.com.au.

EZY RENTALS STRONGLY RECOMMENDS OUR CUSTOMERS TO TAKE
THE EXCESS REDUCTION OPTIONS TO MINIMISE EXCESS EXPOSURE AND
TRAVEL WITH PEACE OF MIND.
Exclusions
Excess options do not cover water submersion or salt-water
damage. All excess options are void if the terms of the rental
agreement are breached.
Bond
A bond is required for all hires. You will be asked to sign
a separate security bond in the form of a credit card imprint.
This bond is held by Ezy cars and is not banked; it is our
guarantee that the vehicle will be returned on time and in
the condition that it was hired in. Ezy Rentals no
longer accepts a cash bond as a form of deposit. All clients
must have a credit card to hire a vehicle.
Payment
Full payment is required prior to dispatch off vehicle. Please
note that an additional surcharge of 4% applies if payment
is being made on Amex cards.
One-Way Hires
Please note that on one-way hires a minimum period may apply.
Please contact our reservation staff for more details.
Rental Duration
24 hours on time of pick-up. There is a 1 hour grace period,
if the car is over 1 hour late a full day is charged. Payment
is to be made at the commencement of the hire by either cash/
traveler's cheques or credit card.
Tax
Goods and Services Tax (G.S.T) of 12.5% is included in all
daily hire prices.
Early Returns
There are no refunds for early returns. Returning a hired
vehicle early may incur a penalty equivalent to 1 days hire.
The daily rate on any discounted or special hires may be recalculated
at rack rates.
One Way Hires
Available between all branches, minimum hire days apply. Repositioning
fees may apply. Please note that for hires from Auckland Airport
Branch to Auckland City Branch a NZ$30.00 one way fee may
apply
Child and Baby Seats
Child seats are now compulsory on New Zealand roads (for children
under 5 years of age). These may be hired from our offices.
These need to be ordered at the time of reservation stating
the age and weight of the child so the correct size will be
booked.
Toddler seats and Baby capsules are $40 each per hire.
Baby boosters are $35 each per hire.
Days of Operation
Please note that Ezy Rentals Auckland, Auckland Airport, Christchurch
and Queenstown are all closed on Christmas Day. Pick up and
drop offs on this day are not possible. In addition to this
the Queenstown office is closed on the 26th of December, 1st
and 2nd of January.
After Hours Pick Up and Drop Offs
After hours pick up and drop offs can be arranged through
our reservations team. For all after hours pick up and drop
offs there is a $30.00 administration fee that applies. Please
note that after hours pick ups and drop offs cannot be done
from our Queenstown branch.
Cancellations
If a booking is cancelled within the 5 day period before the
start of the hire there is no refund of the booking deposit
(20% of hire). If the booking is cancelled outside this period
there is a full refund of the deposit paid.
Ferry Reservations
Should clients be traveling between the North and South Island
they must take the vehicle across on the InterIslander. Ezy
Cars are happy to assist with your ferry booking and recommend
advanced bookings between peak seasons (November through to
March).Clients can collect and pay for their tickets on collection
of their vehicle from Ezy Cars(the approximate time to cross
by InterIslander Ferry is 3 hours).

Age Restrictions
Drivers must be 18 years of age. A medical certificate is
required for driver over the age of 75.
Infringements
We reserve the right to charge the hirer for any speeding
or parking fines, associated administration costs and / or
accidents incurring third party property damage reported on
return of the vehicle.
Additional Hire Items
These items need to be booked at the time of reservation.
New Born Car Seat $35.00 per rental
Toddler Car Seat $35.00 per rental
Booster Seat $35.00 per rental
Snow Chains $25.00 per rental
Ski Racks $25.00 per rental
CHANGE OF DROP-OFF DESTINATION
If the hirer wishes to change the drop-off destination after
the rental has commenced, they must first obtain authorisation
from the Reservations Centre in Auckland. Subject to the change
being approved, an additional charge of up to NZ$500 will
apply.
RENTAL EXTENSION
If the hirer wishes to extend the rental whilst on hire, they
must first obtain authorisation from the Reservations Centre
in Auckland. This is subject to availability. The extra cost
of an extended rental must be paid by credit card over the
telephone on confirmation of the rental extension.
Failure to obtain authorisation will result in a daily fee
of NZ$150 in addition to the daily rate.
ROAD RESTRICTIONS
Motorhomes can only be driven on sealed/bitumen or well-maintained
roads. No vehicle shall be driven on Skippers Road (Queenstown),
Ninety Mile Beach (Northland), Ball Hut Road (Mt. Cook), North
of Colville Township (Coromandel Peninsula) and Tapu-Coroglen
Road (Coromandel Peninsula).
EZY reserves the right at its sole discretion to restrict
vehicle movements in certain areas due to adverse road or
weather conditions.
ON-ROAD ASSISTANCE
Any problems associated with the vehicle, including equipment
failure, must be reported to EZY as soon as possible, and
within 24 hours in order to give EZY the opportunity to rectify
the problem during the rental. Failure to do so will compromise
any claims for compensation. We do not accept liability for
any claims submitted after this period.
REPAIRS
Repairs up to NZ$100 may be affected without authorisation
and will be reimbursed. For amounts over NZ$100, EZY will
need to be informed in advance. Repairs will be approved provided
the hirer was not directly responsible for the damage. Receipts
must be submitted for any repair or the claim will not be
paid.
CHANGE OF VEHICLE
Should the vehicle booked be unavailable through unforeseen
circumstances, EZY reserves the right to substitute an alternative
vehicle without prior notification and at no extra cost. This
shall not constitute a breach of contract and does not entitle
the hirer to a refund.
VEHICLE CATEGORY
Vehicles cannot be requested by make or model, only by vehicle
category.
VOLUNTARY DOWNGRADE
Should the hirer decide to take a smaller vehicle than booked
they will not be entitled to any refund.
CANCELLATION FEE
The cancellation fees are:
- If cancelled up to 21 days prior to pick-up: No Fee
- If cancelled from 21 to 7 days prior to pick-up: 20% of
Gross Rental
- If cancelled 6 to 1 days prior to pick-up: 50% of Gross
Rental
- If cancelled on day of pick up or No-Show: 100% of Gross
Rental
- If vehicle is returned early for any reason whatsoever:
No refund available
IMPORTANT
EZY reserves the right to refuse any rental at its discretion.
ANIMALS
No animals are permitted in our vehicles, excluding guide dogs.
PERSONAL AND COMPANY CHEQUES
Personal and Company cheques will not be accepted as payment
for rentals at the time of pick-up
DISCLAIMER

RATES INCLUDE
• Unlimited kilometres
• No extra driver fees
• Living equipment
• FREE 24 hrs roadservice helpline (tollfree)
• 12.5% GST
• Travel Wallet including road map and travel information
RENTAL DURATION
When calculating the number of days a vehicle is hired, the
day of pick-up is counted as day one of the rental, regardless
of pick-up time. The day of the vehicle's return is counted
as the final day of the rental. Early return of the vehicle
does not entitle the hirer to any refund of the unused portion
of the rental.
• Minimum rental period is 5 days. Minimum rental period is
subject to change during peak periods.
• Late pick up or early return of vehicle does not entitle
the hirer to any refund of the unused portion of the rental.
Early return of vehicle does not entitle the hirer to any
refund of the unused portion of the rental. EZY allows a grace
period of 59 minutes before the hirer is liable for late return
charges. Late return fees are applicable as follows:
• 1 hour late, one third of daily rate will apply
• 2 hours late, two thirds of daily rate will apply
• 3 hours late, one full day rate will apply
DIESEL TAX RECOVERY FEE
The Diesel Tax Recovery - which is a NZ Government-imposed
fee - has been increased to NZ$3.30 per 100kms for the Ezy
2 Cruiza. This will be calculated and collected on return
of your vehicle based on the kilometres travelled during your
hire.
The vehicle rates per 100km are as follows:
CRUISA: NZ$3.30
RIDER: Nil
Rates are subject to Government changes.
BRANCH hours for pick-up and drop-off
Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington:
Daily from 0800 to 1800hrs, closed Christmas Day.
Queenstown:
Open 7 days a week from 0800 – 1800 hours & 0800 – 1700 hours
between 1st June & 1st November.
Pick-ups and drop-offs after branch hours may be available
by prior arrangement.
(Late returns will be charged on a per day basis)
WELLINGTON
Ezy is able to accommodate pre-arranged pick-up and drop-offs
from Wellington if required (on request only). For each pick-up
or drop-off in Wellington a NZ$50 charge will apply. This
price is subject to change.
ONE-WAY RENTALS
One-way rentals are available between all branch locations.
A one-way rental fee of NZ$50 is charged for rentals between
the North and South Island where pick up is between 01 November
2005 and 31 March 2006.
FOR YOUR PROTECTION
New Zealand legislation provides limited coverage for personal
injury. We strongly recommend that all people travelling in
New Zealand take out Personal Travel Insurance.
All vehicles are insured for the damage to the vehicle or
to the property of a Third Party. The hirer is responsible
for the first NZ$2,500 (“the excess”) for the Campervans the
Trekka and Whoppa, and NZ$1,200 (“the excess”) for the Campervans
Cruiza and Ride.
The excess applies in respect of each claim, not rental.
The excess is applicable regardless of who is at fault and
must be paid at the time the accident report is completed,
not at the completion of the rental. The excess will be refunded
if we are successful in recovering the cost of the damages
from the Third Party. Please note that Third Party Claims
can take months to resolve.
Please see the ‘Exclusions’ section, whereby all Excess Reduction
cover will be made void.

Excess Reduction Option 2

With Excess Reduction Option 2 the hirer will not have to
pay excess at all for any damage to Third Party property or
to the rented vehicle, including single vehicle accident,
windscreen and tyre damage, towing and recovery costs, theft,
fire, break in or vandalism. This also includes the cost of
the daily rental rate for the period the vehicle is off fleet
for accident repairs (demurrage). The excess applies in respect
of each claim, not rental.
Please see the ‘Exclusions’ section, whereby all Excess Reduction
cover will be made void.
EZY STRONGLY RECOMMENDS OUR CUSTOMERS TAKE EXCESS REDUCTION
OPTION 2 FOR TRAVEL WITH PEACE OF MIND
EXCLUSIONS
Standard Excess, Excess Reduction Option 1 & 2 for Campa’s,
do not cover:
1. Any water related damage, which includes but is not limited
to:
a) Any vehicle submersion
b) Creek or river crossing
c) Driving through low plain flooded areas
d) Beach driving
2. Personal belongings: We recommend the hirer does not leave
valuables in the vehicle and that they take out personal insurance.
3. All Excess Reduction is void if the terms of the Rental
Agreement are breached. The hirer will be responsible for
the total cost of any damage. This will also include any damage
caused by wilful misconduct (e.g. sitting or standing on the
bonnet or roof of the vehicle) and driving under the influence
of alcohol or drugs.
4. The incorrect use of fuel (fuel being diesel or petrol).
The hirer will be responsible for any associated cost.
5. The cost to retrieve or recover a vehicle which has become
bogged, regardless of the Excess Reduction Package taken
6. The cost to replace keys, which have become lost, or retrieval
of keys, which have been locked in a vehicle.
7. Overhead and underbody damage to the vehicle.
VEHICLE SECURITY DEPOSIT
On pick up of the vehicle, a Vehicle Security Deposit is payable.
The Security Deposit is payable by cash, Traveller’s Cheques
or credit card. Should the Deposit be paid by cash, a cash
qualification process will apply. If paid by credit card,
authorisation will be gained. The security deposit is dependent
on which excess reduction option you take. See ‘Insurance’
section of this manual.
The Security Deposit is fully refundable provided the vehicle
is returned on time, to the correct location, with a clean
interior and with full fuel tanks. We reserve the right to
retain a NZ$125 soiling fee if the vehicle is not returned
with the interior in a clean condition. The toilet and wastewater
tank (if applicable) must be emptied prior to the return of
the Vehicle, or an additional NZ$125 soiling fee will be retained.
Except where the Customer has purchased Pre-purchase Gas Option
and/or Pre-purchase Fuel Option, failure to return the vehicle
with full petrol, diesel and/or LPG tanks will result in refill
charges. Petrol, diesel and LPG gas refill charges will be
advised upon return of the vehicle. In the instance of Excess
Reduction Option 1 and Excess Reduction Option 2, the credit
card voucher will be returned to the Customer (Campervans
only).
TRANSFER
EZY provides free airport to Branch and Branch to airport
transfer on day of arrival and departure for our Auckland
and Christchurch Branch. Queenstown Branch is located at the
Airport.
INFRINGEMENTS
We reserve the right to charge the hirer for any speeding
or parking fines, associated administration costs and/or accidents
including third party property damage not reported on return
of the vehicle. The administration fee per fine will be NZ$50.
EXCHANGE RATE / CURRENCY VARIATIONS
All credit card transactions are conducted in New Zealand
dollars. Due to exchange rate fluctuations there could be
some variance in the amount refunded compared to the amount
initially charged. EZY does not accept any liability for variances
up or down.
CREDIT CARDS
When a credit card is presented as payment, the credit card
holder will be jointly and severally liable as a customer.
A credit card is needed for all hires. Preferred credit cards
are Visa Card and MasterCard.
LICENCE
A full resident country driver’s licence, held for at least
one year, is to be presented at the time of rental. If the
licence is not in English format, an international driver’s
licence is also required.
AGE RESTRICTIONS
Drivers must be 21 years of age or over. A medical certificate
stating that the customer is fit to drive the vehicle they
have booked for the duration of the hire is required for drivers
over the age of 75.
FERRY RESERVATIONS
Should clients be traveling between the North and South Island
they must take the vehicle across on the InterIslander. Ezy
Rentals are happy to assist with your ferry booking and recommend
advanced bookings between peak seasons (November through to
March) Clients can collect and pay for their tickets on collection
of their vehicle (the approximate time to cross by InterIslander
Ferry is 3 hours).

LIVING EQUIPMENT
The Living Equipment (crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils,
linen, sleeping bags, pillows and towels) for all Campa’s
is included in the daily rental rate at no extra cost.

EZY reserves the right to refuse any rental at its discretion.
